Over 30 local artists’ work will be showcased during HallowEast at the first ever ArtMares Art Opening on the East End. ArtMares is set to run Wednesday and Thursday from 5 PM - 7 PM and Friday and Saturday from 5 PM - 9 PM at the vacant property located on the corner of Washington and Elizabeth Streets. The horror-themed displays of local artists will be for sale and East End Main Street will receive 30% of all proceeds to benefit our annual public art initiatives. What is even cooler about ArtMares is that it is being held in a commercial building that is currently being advertised as studio space for local artists, photographers, and artisans. This is just yet another step in furthering the concept that the East End is the hub of the valley for all local artists.
Be sure and come down to the ArtMares Art Show to check out the best art Charleston has to offer during HallowEast!

“True Blood” fan sites are picking up on HallowEast!
From the popular www.true-blood.net:
West Virginia native Sam Trammell will return home in October for a fundraising appearance in support of East End Main Street, a program of the Charleston Area Alliance dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Charleston, WV’s oldest and most diverse neighborhood. Sam will be the highlight of the inaugural HallowEast fundraiser, participating in “Inside the Main Street Studio,” a sit-down, “Inside the Actors Studio”-style interview, at 8:00 PM on Friday, October 30.
David Wohl, dean of arts and humanities at West Virginia State University, will be asking the questions, and a Kanawha Players performance of “Dial M for Murder” will follow Sam’s Q&A. Tickets for the Sam Trammell presentation and “Dial M of Murder” are $50. Tickets for the show and a VIP reception at the Cultural Center are $100; tickets for the premium VIP reception earlier that evening, also at the Cultural Center, are $150. Sam will be participating in both receptions, and those prices include admission to “Inside the Main Street Studio.”
